FoggyLogTue Apr 25th 2006 18:54:56: Travelling Continues...The Thursday night before easter saw me return to the UK after 3 weeks away. Friday was a day of washing, paying bills and generally sorting life out. Then on Saturday I took a 6.5 hour drive up to Scotland to join the people who got me into mountain biking in a nice little cottage on a farm near Peebles. During the 6 days I had there it was lovely and sunny for 5 of them, so I got lots of good rides in. They varied between 15 and 25 miles, however they always involved lots and lots of cycling up hills - frequently on tracks that had big lumps of rock in the way which was interesting (and created some damage to my legs.... still not got the knack of getting feet out of cleats in time). Anyway the benefit of cycling up hill is that there were some fantastic down hills. Some of them very technical (requiring some rapidly learnt skills) and others just involving ridiculous speeds (29mph down a gravel track that weaved it's way through a forest was my record!), big jumps and scary drop offs. I'm so glad I've got hydraulic disc brakes!
Anyway now it's back to life as normal.... I'm sat in a hotel in Germany wondering where to go and explorer at the weekend. Time to go and read the guide book over dinner....
