Sat Jul 8th 2006 16:35:18: The best gig ever

Disco Inferno played at Henley in Arden Golf Club last night for a wedding. We were asked to do the complete 70's thing, so the band were dressed up in loud clothes, afros, medalians, silly sun glasses etc. We were also told not to tell anyone what we played.

So the band hid in the dressing room until moments before the first set, and fortunately the layout of the venue allowed them to make a big entry to the sound of police sirens from a CD. So the first track (Starsky and Hutch instrumental) happened and went down well. Then the first real dance track started at which point the (large number of) ushers and bridesmaids trouped in having changed into 70's gear (the brides maids had blue afro's to match their dresses). This was when the crazy dancing on the dance floor started, and it never ended all evening! At the end of the second set an encore was demanded which was fine. Then a second encore was demanded (very loudly). Finally 4 encore songs later and despite the loudest crowd you've ever heard DJ Gary (!!) started spinning some tunes to try and keep the insane crowd happy!

The gig ended at 1am, so we didn't get out of there until 1:30am. Then I drove the van back to cambridge and arrived at work at 3am which suprised the new security guard slightly (we store the kit at work so I had to get him to let us in). Finally got home at 4am, so not much has happened today as yet!

It was a really good gig, and I do hope we can play to such a fun bunch of people again some time!
