Tue May 1st 2007 10:54:04: Specialized Helmet Crash Replacement Policy

Following my mountain bike accident I need a new helmet. Despite not advertising it on their website it turns out Specialized do have a crash replacement offer (which is mentioned in little writing on the instruction manual, but no info is given).

Therefore I thought I'd advertise it on the web for them....

My helmet was a Specialized Chamonix (RRP £30) and they will replace it for £12. I just have to post it back to them with a description of what happened. If I want to upgrade to a better helmet then I have to pay £12 plus the difference in RRP between my helmet and the helmet I want. For specific up-to-date details then I suggest you call them (number available here).

UPDATE 18/5/07: From a sample of two (me and Fraser) it looks like the replacement helmet costs 40% of the RRP.

Thanks for this link . Had a pretty horrible crash yesterday at Learnie Red Rocks on the Black Isle and wrecked my helmet . During the 5 hours at A&E in Inverness we talked about this policy but had no idea how to go about it .

Have since spoken to SPECIALIZED who will replace the helmet for £24 . Hopefully the wife will let me use it again! Cheers Fraser
