Tue Dec 4th 2007 09:44:14: Kicked off Purplecloud!

I've been asked to find new hosting by Purplecloud because my email traffic "constitutes a violation of our fair use policy". Apparently in November I "received 30,928 emails, which is 24 times higher than the per-client average". That's a bit of a bummer! Thanks spammers.

So... hosting recommendations from anyone? I need about 1Gb of space (inc PHP/MySQL) with at least 2Gb of monthly bandwidth. Oh, and they need to handle my email/spam traffic!

That's pretty dumb! My email load is already about 50% higher than that (thank god for Google spam filters). It's a Linux vhost however - you have to install your own email servers etc.

When do you have to move by? I'm in the process of setting up a machine...

I've got 14 days to move, so not long. Problem is I'm a bit busy at the moment, so I've spent tonight (my 1 free evening this week!) trying to transfer myself to Streamline.net. No major progress as the data is taking forever to download/upload. Tedious.... I predict some website downtime. Email should survive ok, as that's simply a forward to gmail.

Don't think I'd manage with a Linux vhost - everyone knows how I'm such a linux expert :)

I use hostmonster.com for the cycle map. Cheap as very cheap chips.

Most soundies can at least count up to three ;-)

We could have solved the by changing our mx records to allow us to use google's apps. and hosted our email there, and then leave our html/php at purplecloud.

oh well.

I've just transfered my domain over to streamline.net. All seems ok so far... although their server has a much stricter config of php which broke all my php :(

Anyway, it seems to be working now....
