Freiburg

Freiburg on the edge (or in the middle, depending on who you talk to) of the Black Forest in Germany.

One of the old gates to the city from the days when it was fortified. There are quaint little streets all over the altestadt (old town) Another random little allyway Whilst walking around the town there are two things to watch out for... the drainage streams.... and the trams In the old days the stream were used for drinking water (I think that's right) and to keep the city cool in the summer. The view across the city from the nearby Schlossberg (castle hill). The castle is long gone, raized by the French (about 100 years after the French built it!) The same view across Freiburg, but with a much moodier sky. The viewing tower on top of the Schlossberg The cable car going up Schauinland. In this photo you can see about half of it. Look what I found in Todtnau... Now that's what you call a rodelbahn (bobsled track thingy)! Why can't we have stuff like that in England?
