Peaks District Trip 15-5-05

A nice gentle 2 day 55km walk around the Peak district (carrying tent, sleeping bag, food etc)

The Route. As recorded by the GPS. The purple bits are where I had to fill in the route points, due to the batteries running out, or lack of memory The altitude vs distance graph of the track log. On the left you can see us climbing up to Kinder Scout, walking across it, and then down to the YHA. Then we walked to the reservoir and gradually rose back up over the hill to drop back down to the starting camp site. Setting out feeling nice and fit The first of many Dams We followed it for some of the way Ed in an unknown location Ed misplaced the Penine Way, so we got to do a bit of scrambling to correct his mistake Still scrambling Ed verses Rock. Rock won. Ed required 1st aid. Just before the steep climb up to Kinder Scout Ed on Kinder Scout That looks quite high. Ed on the Trig Point Gary getting trudging off to get a head start on the others Mr Quad Bike Rider is stuck. The gate was 10mm too narrow, so he needed the combined brains of two Cambridge Engineers and one Imperial Engineer to work out that it needed to go through at 45 degrees. Then he needed the attached muscle to carry out the plan. Meanwhile his Trial Bike riders stood on the other side and watched. Gary cooking porridge at the wild campsite The Reservoir The don't build dams like that these days One more team photo Ed refilling his water bottle In the middle of no where
